Odour Control, Wastewater Treatment Plants – Iraq

One of our largest customers for Pumice Odour Control Media (Lava Rock) has won an important contract to supply odour control units to Iraq. The units will assist in the modernization of the country’s waste treatment program. The bio-scrubbers contain lava rock (bio media) supplied by Techfil and we were pleased to be able supply the media as per our clients exacting requirements.

SWRO Desalination Plant – Red Sea, Saudi Arabia

Techfil are pleased to announce the successful shipment of 130m3 of Pumice Filtration Media to in Saudi Arabia. Our client has installed Pumice as part of the next phase of a large SWRO desalination plant. Pumice has a low-density, multi-faceted, angular structure that traps and holds impurities. It is chemically inert, inorganic and has a long filtration media lifespan. Its versatility allows for use in single or dual media filtration (DMF) and in both pressure and rapid-gravity filter designs for desalination applications.

SWRO Desalination Plant – Iraq

Techfil have completed the supply of 30m3 of Pumice Filtration Media to our client in Iraq. The Pumice filtration media serves as an excellent pre-treatment layer in reverse osmosis and desalination processes and can be used prior to dissolved air floatation (DAF) in a dual media filter.

Pumice Catalyst Support Media

Recent research has confirmed that Pumice has an excellent zeolitic framework as a support for hydrogenation catalysts. In the hydrogenation of campholenic aldehyde the selectivity to unsaturated alchohol on a Pumice based catalyst is remarkably higher than on a conventional catalyst. Techfil offers a complete range of Pumice Pellets with sizes  5-7 mm and 5-10 mm being the optimum grades.

Techfil awarded Lava Rock contract for overseas Bioscrubber Installation

Techfil have won a contract to supply 320m3 of Lava Rock for a Bioscrubber in Spain. The client chose to install Lava Rock in the Bioscrubber to prolong the life of the biofilter. Lava Rock is chemically inert and is not affected by either acids or alkali. Lava Rock  is strong enough physically to be used in biofilters with a bed depth of up to three metres.

Heatwave continues – Pumice Aggregates to the rescue

Due to ever rising temperatures and lack of rain Pumice is becoming the preferred choice for the horticultural sector. Being a natural product pumice contains no harmful substances, it is inert with a pH of 7.0 – 8.0. Pumice is resistant to frost and chemicals and does not break down in water. It improves the soil structure and retains valuable water. Due to its light weight  and versatility Pumice can also be used in landscaping where it has been used instead of  pebbles in the public domain in interior and exterior landscaping and where the weight of natural pebbles would not be acceptable.

Techfil gets Greener with Recycled Glass

With our ever increasing need to be green Recycled Glass is becoming a preferred product. Glass is an ideal material for recycling with recent research findings having shown that concrete made with recycled glass aggregates have better long term strength and better thermal insulation. Using Recycled Glass also conserves raw materials, reduces energy consumption, and reduces the volume of waste sent to landfill. Techfil also supplies Recycled Glass for use in metal finishing, surface finishing, blasting and water filtration.
